Has there been an analysis with other variables such as education/ income levels? That could be a key driver across groups.

It might be intelligence, but the same racial pattern also holds for criminal behavior, and that sort of difficulty might be more closely related to getting along in marriage.

I sometimes wonder if everything follows this pattern at this point. It's depressing.

I think similar cultures has way more to do with successful than IQ. “White” is such a mismatch of culture especially when you look at Nordic culture vs the Mediterranean cultures or the Russian /Slavic cultures vs British. I am pretty high IQ, but by standard IQ tests, I doubt my husband is similarly as high. We do however share similar cultural backgrounds. He was raised by his Slavic father after his British mother left them. I also have a Slavic family heritage. We are the best of friends and we understand each other so well. We have been married for over 20 years and dated for 5 years before that. He is the BEST thing in my life. I would love to see the stats on marriage of similar cultures.

The sample sizes for Asians (55 couples based on 2.7%) are really small. I bet most of these Asians are highly educated and come from intact families (to Rohan's point). Would be interesting to see a larger sample size and across socioeconomic status. I think you would still see the same effect but not as pronounced due to the cultural stigma around divorce.
